Another young girl has passed away after sustaining serious burns in the fire in Koronivia on Saturday night.
The National Fire Authority confirmed that the 12-year-old girl passed away earlier today.
NFA said the tragic house fire has claimed the lives of two innocent children as a 7-year-old child died in the fire on Saturday night.
Their elder sister, a 15-year-old who suffered 85 percent burns in the same fire, is admitted in critical condition at the CWM Hospital.
The Police and Fire Authority investigations revealed the fire started from the children’s room due to a candle which the family had lit because they had no electricity.
NFA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Aseri Radrodro said the recent spate of residential fires is a concern to the authority.
People are advised to always check that all fire ignition sources in the house like stoves, lamps, mosquito coils, prayer diyas and candles are put out completely as a safety measure before leaving their home or going to bed to avoid the risk of fires.
