The Melbourne Storm have been hit with a significant blow ahead of Saturday night's clash against the Penrith Panthers with leading try scorer Marika Koroibete set to miss the next six weeks with a fractured thumb.

Koroibete suffered the injury in the 70th minute of the Storm's 24‑2 loss to the Roosters on Monday night.

His seven tries in 11 games make him the club's joint‑leading try scorer alongside Will Chambers.

The Melbourne Storm currently sit fourth on the NRL ladder and they will meet the Penrith Panthers at 9pm Saturday.
