With nine changes to various coaching appointments, all the new coaches would want to impress their fans back at home in their first outing.
Despite losing to Samoa in the Oceania 7s tournament final last week, Digicel Fiji 7s Captain Osea Kolinisau is confident of defending the title this weekend.
Meanwhile, Australian captain Ed Jenkins said they are also relishing their chances of winning the title at home but they have to battle past Samoa and Argentina in pool play.
However, Samoan 7s team coach Viliamu Punivalu said they are up for the challenge and has hinted to their opponents that they should be wary of new robust prop forward Misioka Timoteo who can be compared to former player Alafoti Faosiliva.
World 7s Series defending champion New Zealand’s speed merchant Sherwin Stowers said they are under no pressure of winning this weekend.
The Gold Coast 7s kicks off at 12.30pm tomorrow and Fiji’s first pool match is against Canada at 1.58pm.
Fiji’s second match is against Portugal at 5.14pm and the last pool match will be against Wales at 9.24pm.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 1.58pm on Sunday, Cup semis kick off at 5.58pm and the Cup final will be played at 9.04pm.
