I am a really happy man today.
These are the words of former Fiji Institute of Technology Director Kolinio Meo after he was acquitted of the charge of 'Abuse of Office' by Magistrate Amani Rokotinaviti in the Suva Magistrate's Court today.
Rokotinaviti dismissed the charges saying there was no case to answer.
Meo maintained he was always innocent.
FICAC is studying the ruling in order to determine its next cause of action.
Meo was earlier charged by FICAC for 'Abuse of Office' for allegedly having abused the authority of his office for his own benefit, recuperating at the Raffles Tradewinds Hotel in Lami when on sick leave.
It was alleged he authorized hotel bill payments of $726.00 by FIT without proper authority.
