SDL's National Director Peceli Kinivuwai was stopped from leaving the country at the Nadi International Airport this morning when he arrived for his flight to Sydney to attend the meeting of the Democratic Union of Political Parties.
Speaking to Fijivillage news from Nausori Airport, Kinivuwai claimed that he was shown a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Commissioner of Police Commodore Esala Teleni putting him on the ban list. According to Kinivuwai, he contacted Commodore Teleni who refused to speak to him.
Kinivuwai believes this action has been taken because of his comments against the interim government.
Interim Minister for Home Affairs Ratu Epeli Ganilau when contacted in the last hour said he was in the North and was not aware of the prohibition order against Kinivuwai.
Police Commission Commodore Esala Teleni could not be reached for a comment.
