The Director of Immigration said he could not say whether SDL National Director, Peceli Kinivuwai's rights were violated when he was stopped from travelling to Australia over the weekend.
Commander Viliame Naupoto said Kinivuwai's name had been on the immigration watch list since early last year and he just needed to check with the Ministry of Defence for details.
However, Kinivuwai maintained that the main issue that needed to be addressed was that his rights were violated.
Commander Viliame Naupoto said Kinivuwai was allowed to leave the country a few months ago to attend a meeting and this can be arranged again. However, he said Kinivuwai has to speak to the ministry.
Naupoto said there seemed to be a lot of confusion as there was no handwritten letter given to the Immigration Department to block Kinivuwai.
He maintained that the SDL National Director had been on the blacklist since early last year and the details were written out for him on who he should contact based on the information on the watch list.
