Some people are stranded in Rakiraki town as the Kings Road remains closed due to flash flooding last night.

Rakiraki police said no buses operated this morning and many people have not been able to go to work.

Parts of Rakiraki town, the market, FSC Road, Gallau Road, Naqoro flats are still flooded and flood waters have also entered some shops.

However, waters are slowly receding as rainfall stopped this morning.

No major damages have been reported by the flood.

Meanwhile, weather forecasters at the Nadi Weather Office said a trough of low pressure was lying to the west of Viti Levu yesterday which now has moved over Viti Levu towards the east with only brief showers expected with no flash flooding.
