Kill Plot Suspects Out on Bail
The state has dropped the charge of inciting mutiny against all the accused after considering all the evidence and reviewed the charge.
One of the accused, Peceli Rinakama, has been discharged from all the counts and is a free man now following a review of the evidence by the prosecution.
The remaining ten accused will now face three counts of conspiracy to murder Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama, Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Nine accused, Jone Baledrokadroka, Feoko Gadekibau, Barbadoes Mills, Sivaniolo Naulago, Metuisela Mua, Eparama Waqatairewa, Isireli Cakau, Kameli Vosavere and Pauliasi Namulo who appeared in court today, pleaded not guilty to the three counts of conspiracy to murder.
All of the nine accused have been released on $1000 bail each and ordered not to communicate with each other. They have also been told by Magistrate John Semisi to provide their addresses and not to change them. A curfew will be in place for them from 7pm to 6am and they have been ordered not to interfere with witnesses and to surrender all their passports.
Magistrate Semisi has also ordered one of the accused, Naitasiri High Chief Ratu Inoke Takiveikata to be brought to court as soon as he is discharged from hospital as the amended charge of conspiracy to murder has to be read to him.
It has been confirmed that Ratu Inoke is expected to appear in court by the end of this week after he is discharged from hospital.
The case has been adjourned to the 21st of next month for mention.
