Khan’s name comes up again in plot case
While giving evidence Kedreli told the court that a week after the meeting in Nausori, he was picked up by accused Sivaniolo Naulago and others and they went to Wailase where training exercises were to be carried out.
He described how they constructed models of the 3FIR Unit, the Military Armory and Stand-By Unit.
Keidreli said he was then asked by accused, Barbadoes Mills to go to the road and keep watch while they carried out the exercise to ensure no one would see what they were doing.
During his evidence, Kedreli said while they were returning to Nausori from Wailase, Ballu Khan called Naulago and told them to go to his house at Kavika place in Suva.
He said they went to Khan's house and unloaded the chainsaw, tarpaulins and other items which they used in Wailase.
Keidreli said Khan invited them to have dinner and a few beers which Khan had prepared for them.
During the cross examination of the state witness, defence counsel Mehboob Raza said there were several anomalies in Keidreli's evidence in court and his Police Statement.
Raza said that in his evidence in court Keidreli mentioned that in the meeting in Sabeto and Nausori, Naulago had led the briefings while in his Police Statement he said Mills led the briefings.
He also highlighted that Keidreli does not mention in his police statement that anyone had ever mentioned weapons at the meeting at FTA while in court he said otherwise.
Keidreli in response admitted that there may be things he said in court which he forgot to tell the interviewing officer.
The State witness said it could be that the Police Officer did not hear him during the interview or he may have forgotten to mention it.
Keidreli also admitted that he did not tell the police some of the things he had heard during the operations.
The eight accused persons charged with conspiracy to murder Commodore Bainimarama, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Mahendra Chaudhry are Naitasiri high chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, Feoko Gadekibau, Barbados Mills, Sivaniolo Naulago, Metuisela Mua, Eparama Waqatairewa, Kaminieli Vosavere and Pauliasi Ramulo.
The case continues.
