Khan leaves hospital without officers
Businessman Ballu Khan, who left the Suva Private hospital earlier this afternoon, is expected to be escorted to the CWM Hospital by Police later this evening.
Khan's partner Agnes Bulatiko has confirmed to our reporter at the scene that Police want to take Khan back to hospital. She confirms that Khan is at his Suva home and is currently resting.
Police have cordoned off the road leading to Khan's who was admitted at the Suva Private Hospital for over a month and left the hospital earlier this afternoon without any police officers.
Our police sources have confirmed that Khan left with his lawyer, QC Peter Williams, partner, Agnes Bulatiko and a driver by the name of Pauliasi Ratu.
We have received confirmation that Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni then dispatched a team of police officers to go to Khan's home who cordoned off the area and have barred the media from getting near the house.
Our reporter at the scene confirms that Police Officers are currently speaking to Khan's QC Peter Williams and Anges Bulatiko.
It has also been confirmed that there is still no sign of the driver Pauliasi Ratu or the rental car in which Khan was taken away from hospital.
When Village News arrived at the Private Hospital, it was confirmed that Khan left with Williams and Ratu in a rental car. A police officer tried to stop Khan from leaving but his lawyer insisted that he had no right to stop him.
Meanwhile, the Solicitor General Christopher Pryde has confirmed that Police have not allowed Medical Authorities to release businessman Ballu Khan from hospital as claimed by his Queens Counsel Peter Williams.
After Khan was taken away from hospital this afternoon, Williams told Radio New Zealand that Fiji Police have signed an affidavit allowing Khans doctors to release him and that is why they have taken Khan away from the hospital.
However, Pryde told Village News that no such document has been signed and filed by Police as claimed. Pryde stresses that Khan has left the hospital on his own accord.
Pryde said the state has made its stand clear, that Khan is not in Police custody but under the custody of the Medical Authorities and Police affidavits filed in court confirmed that they intend to take Khan into custody for interrogation once he is released from hospital.
