The Police Commissioner has stressed that he will not allow businessman Ballu Khan to leave the country for a medical examination.
Commodore Esala Teleni said they have evidence against Khan that he was one of the key players in the alleged plot to assassinate Commodore Bainimarama, Mahendra Chaudhry, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Colonel Samuela Saumatua and Lieutenant Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho.
He said based on that, police will take him into custody for questioning as soon as he is released from hospital.
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing businessman Ballu Khan has confirmed that he will hire a New Zealand Queens Counsel to represent his client.
Fa said police are yet to lay charges against Khan however he will try and get him out first from the hospital and try to send him to NZ for medical examination.
Fa adds he went to visit his client on Friday night and is concerned with his internal injuries and broken jaw.
Fa earlier claimed that his client is now being illegally detained in relation to the alleged assassination plot as he has been in custody for more than 48 hours without any charges being laid.
