Key witness in Tuisolia case granted immunity for testimony
Defense Counsel Devinesh Sharma today produced a letter in court confirming that the witness, AFL's Senior Accountant Anjala Mishra was granted immunity from prosecution for giving evidence in the case.
Upon questioning, Mishra revealed that when she was taken in to the FICAC Lautoka office, she was told that she would be charged with conspiring with Tuisolia to falsify his credit card statements.
She also confirmed that after 16 days of interviews, FICAC granted her immunity from prosecution.
Mishra also revealed that she helped FICAC Officers prepare a spreadsheet titled "irregular transactions" which were derived from the credit card statements.
She said she prepared that document at the FICAC office using the FICAC computers.
Sharma questioned her on whether the document was ever taken to the AFL headquarters for verification.
Mishra said she had informed her superiors that she was assisting FICAC but the document was not permitted to be removed from the FICAC office.
The case is adjourned to 10am tomorrow.
