Keep your chickens in proper enclosures or face Court.
That is the word from the Suva City Council as complaints have reached them about people having animals for consumption in their back yards.
Council Spokeswoman Jillan Hicks said keeping animals for consumption is prohibited however exemption has been made for chicken which should be kept in a proper coop with cement floors and properly ventilated.
Hicks adds that keeping goats and other animal is against Health Regulations and the normal procedure after a complaint is received by the Council is to issue a warning, after which 14 days will be given to adhere to Health regulations.
Non - compliance will eventuate in Court time.
