The Ecumenical Center for Research Education and Advocacy is urging all political party leaders and the interim government to keep an open mind when they enter the political dialogue next week to try and find ways of moving the country forward.
Center Director Chantell Khan said the leaders must realize that it will not be easy but stressed that these are exciting developments for Fiji.
The Fiji Council of Social Services has also welcomed the move and President, Nemani Buresova said it’s now Commodore Bainimarama's responsibility to uphold his word in getting all political leaders to discuss Fiji's future.
The Citizen's Constitutional Forum has welcomed the move by political parties and Bainimarama to enter into dialogue for a way forward for Fiji.
Executive Director, Rev Akuila Yabaki said the meeting, hopefully the first of many, should be welcomed as this will be beneficial to the whole country.
The SDL, National Federation Party, Conservative Alliance Matanitu Vanua, National Alliance Party, and the Party of National Unity have so been confirmed their attendance at the forum on Monday.
However, Fiji Labour Party Leader, Mahendra Chaudhry said he cannot make decisions on his own on whether the party will accept the invitation from Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama to discuss about the future of our country.
Chaudhry said FLP Committee will decide tomorrow whether or not they will accept the invitation. He refused to say anything further.
Commodore Bainimarama is planning to bring all the political party leaders together in one room at the parliament complex next Monday.
In a letter to the party leaders, Bainimarama said the interim government and the state are committed to conducting a general election as soon as practically possible. He said it is imperative that they move forward to facilitate this without further, undue delay.
Bainimarama is also flexible on the agenda of this proposed meeting on Monday.
