The Fiji Peacekeepers Association has highly objected to the re-appointment of Francis Kean as Commander of the Fiji Navy.

Kean was convicted of a serious charge of manslaughter and the Association said that Kean must be allowed to rehabilitate his life, but not within the periphery of the Fiji Military Forces.

It is in their view that it is only fair to the man and also the RFMF as a whole.

The Association also stressed that the RFMF is never short of talented and capable officers to run the Institution and finding Kean's replacement is no exception, as the State spends millions of dollars in training officers.

The Association does not question the authority of the Commander but the social moral obligation connected to it.

When contacted this afternoon for a comment Military Spokesperson Major Neumi Leweni switched off his phone.
