Kava In The Blood Out
Peter Thomson, who was the Permanent Secretary for Information and PS to the Governor General, the late Ratu Penaia Ganilau during the two coups in 1987 has released his third book to give readers an insight on what happened during and after the 1987 coups.
Thomson who now resides in Sydney and is currently on a visit to Fiji said Kava In The Blood Edition Three was published after the two editions were sold out and he discovered on the internet that people were selling the second hand books anywhere between 50 to 100 US dollars.
He then worked with Book Surge, a subsidiary of amazon.com to publish the latest edition.
Thomson who was Ratu Penaia's Permanent Secretary in 1987 worked with the late Governor General in ensuring that the political leaders at the time reach a compromise through the Deuba Accord said it was a historic moment when the late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara and the late Doctor Timoci Bavadra and other political party leaders agreed to the Deuba Accord to take the country forward.
When questioned on the current move to end the coup culture, he only said that there is hope that the political party leaders get together in a room to resolve the current issues.
Peter Thomson, who is the son of the late Sir Ian Thomson is currently in the country to arrange to put up a memorial stained glass window for his father at the Saint Andrews Church at Gordon Street. He said the Saint Andrews Council had approved their request and the window should be up before Christmas.
