Otago based Randall Kamea had to give up 15's rugby to be with the Digicel Fiji 7s team.
Despite being named in the Fiji Warriors training squad to play the NSW Waratahs at the end of this month in Sydney, he will now be playing 7s.
Kamea, who impressed both the National Team Coaches Iliesa Tanivula and Samu Domoni Junior during the trials and the fitness tests, said he had to choose between the two codes.
It is highly likely that Kamea could make the cut in the final 12-member team to the second leg of the IRB World 7s Series in Wellington and Las Vegas next month.
Kamea said 7s rugby is exciting and he will do his best to get selected into the Digicel Fiji 7s team. He said his interest came in 7s rugby when he grew up watching the 7s stars.
Kamea is in camp with the Fiji 7s team preparing to compete at the Digicel Suva International 7s tournament next week.
