The Education Ministry has confirmed that all Junior Secondary Schools which only cater for Forms 3 and 4 in Fiji will be elevated to full secondary status by 2011.

The move by the ministry is to coincide with the abolishment of the Fiji Junior Certificate Examination in 2011.

Currently, there are only five junior secondary schools in the country.

Four are in the Northern Division and one in the West.

Students who complete Form 4 from these schools move to urban secondary schools for further studies.

There are 167 secondary schools currently in Fiji.
