High Court Judge Justice Nazhat Shameem has dismissed an application for stay of the proceedings of their case by Suva Businessman Dhansuk Lal Bhika and four others, charged in relation to the alleged involvement in the Agriculture scam.

Dhansuk Lal Bhika, along with Gulab Dass Bhika, Manoj Bhika, Jitendra Pratap, Shashi Rudra Singh and Suliasi Sorovakatini had applied for a stay on their case after they challenged certain amended charges against them.

Meanwhile, defence counsels for the accused have requested the High Court that all documents seized from Sun Court Hardware during the course of investigations be disclosed to them to prepare for the case.

Prosecution has agreed to provide copies of the necessary documents. The case is adjourned till September 26th for mention and to set a hearing date.

Bhika and others are charged with allegedly obtaining money through false pretense and conspiracy to defraud the government of $3.2 million in relation to the Agriculture Scam of 2000 and 2001.
