There were very few dissenting voices when fullback Jordie Barrett dominated the Hurricanes’ end-of-season awards night.

A clear standout of their Super Rugby season, either side of the COVID-19 lockdown break, Barrett scooped three categories including player of the year.

The All Blacks fullback-in-waiting - assuming they take the field this year - gained the most votes in the best and fairest, and was also voted members’ player of the year.

At just 23 Barrett’s leadership and the all-round game went up another level in 2020.

He stepped up in the big moments and his cool-headed goalkicking helped clinch victories against the Chiefs in March, and the big ones against the Crusaders and Blues in Super Rugby Aotearoa.
