The 2007 Pacific Games will be the swan song for one of our top veteran athletes.
40-year-old Jone Delai will retire from top level competition after this year's Games.
But before that Delai wants to put two more gold medals in his cupboard as the Athletics competition gets underway today in Samoa where he will compete in the 100 meters and also in the 4x100 meters relay.
Speaking to Village sports, Delai said with the help of other athletes he could achieve his goal and retire on a high note.
Delai, earlier was not selected to be in the 100 meters but his recent performance in the Oceania Grand Prix in Australia, saw his name included in the Blue Ribbon event.
Delai who will be taking part in the 100 meters heats today still holds the 100 meters record which he set way back in 1995 in a time of 10.34 seconds.
