A joinery workshop belonging to Valebasoga Tropik Board in Labasa was completely destroyed by fire early this morning.
Divisional Northern Fire Officer John Pillay said firefighters are still at the scene carrying out their investigations into the cause of the fire, results of which should be known by this afternoon.
Pillay said they managed to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings within the compound saving heavy machinery and timber stocks.
He added the absence of a fire hydrant near the complex is especially worrying, and steps are being taken to look into the issue.
