The Fiji Rugby Union says they have selected the best person to be the new Chief Executive Officer.

Current National Fire Authority CEO John O'Connor has been appointed as the new Chief Executive officer of the Fiji Rugby Union.

O’Connor is also the Chairman of the Suva Rugby Union and is a FRU board member.

Acting FRU CEO Doctor Berlin Kafoa says the selection of John O’Connor was handled by global auditing firm KPMG who was appointed by World Rugby.

Kafoa says global auditing firm KPMG handled the selection process until there were two final candidates.

He adds that FRU board members Carl Cameroon and John O’Connor were suspended from the board when they applied for the position.

He says O’Connor is a person who will be able to lead the Fiji Rugby Union forward with his leadership skills.

O’Connor will be resigning as CEO of the National Fire Authority before the 1st of February next year by which Doctor Berlin Kafoa will step down as Acting CEO.
