John McKee new Flying Fijians coach
The Fiji Rugby Union Board made the announcement last night saying McKee was selected ahead of 24 other applicants who were considered for the position.
McKee has been the Manager of the High Performance Unit at FRU since November last year.
According to a FRU statement, McKee comes well qualified as he is an Australian Rugby Union Level Three Coach and has a New Zealand Rugby Union - Massey University Diploma of Management in Rugby Coaching.
The New Zealand born McKee spent six seasons coaching at clubs in France and Ireland from 2000.
McKee’s immediate task will be to get Fiji to qualify for the next Rugby World Cup playing Cook Islands next month.
The FRU Board said based on the outcome of this qualifying game, he will have to prepare the team for the World Cup next year.
