The Interim Minister for Finance Mahendra Chaudhry has appointed John May as the new chairman of the Fiji Sugar Commission effective from July 5th.
Chaudhry said May is no stranger to the industry having served it with distinction for many years before retiring in 2006 as CEO of the Fiji Sugar Marketing Authority.
Chaudhry also informed May that the reform and restructuring programme currently underway in the sugar industry poses huge challenges to the whole of Fiji and it is absolutely vital that the targets set in the programmes are achieved within the allocated timeframe if the industry is to survive.
