People living in Lagilagi Settlement at Jittu Estate will not move from where they reside at the moment however the Lagilagi Project will allow them to have a community lease.
Consultant for the housing project Father Kevin Barr said in this lease, people will own their houses but not the land, and the main reason is to provide people with adequate housing.
Father Barr confirmed that when the project is completed it will provide adequate housing for a total of 162 households, and first preference will be given to the 75 households who are part of the project and those who have lived there consistently.
Father Barr added that is not like some cases overseas where the land is sold and a factory is set up, and people living on the land are relocated and they move to another squatter settlement.
