The Trinity Newtown Rugby Sevens team will head into next weekend’s Fiji Bitter Marist 7s with confidence after receiving assistance from Vodafone Fiji 7s playmaker Jerry Tuwai.
Tuwai who started his rugby career in Newtown, Nasinu has been encouraging his brothers that sky is the limit and nothing is impossible.
Newtown Rugby Sevens coach Josua Rabonu said Tuwai’s support has inspired the young players to step up and work harder during training.
The Newtown 7s team progressed well in a number of tournaments last year when they beat Semi Kunatani’s Yamacia side and drew with Red Rock in Nausori.
Rabonu stressed that they will be participating in the Marist 7s for the first time and they are not there just to make up the numbers.
Some of the key players in the side are Isoa Ratuva, Jale Nabuta, Malakai Tobau, Fereti Tabua and Asaeli Tamanitokula.
Meanwhile the Fiji Bitter Marist 7's will be held next Friday and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium with the fixtures to be announced today.
Wardens Gold is the defending champion after beating Police 15‑12 in last years final.
