Defending girl’s division champion Jasper Williams High School has suffered a major setback ahead of the Coca Cola Games as two of their star athletes are in doubt.
Mereseini Naidau who won gold in the 3,000 and 1,500 metres last year is still recovering from an injury while Mereseini Vukici who also won two gold medals in the Inter girls 400 and 800 metres is down sick.
Head Coach Antonio Raboiliku is still hoping that they will recover by next week.
Raboiliku added knowing the level of competition provided by other schools, defending the title will be tough.
However, the race for the girl’s title is expected to be another close contest between Jasper and Adi Cakobau School.
Meanwhile, the Coca Cola Games torch is currently in All Saints Secondary School in Labasa.
The Coca Cola Games starts next Friday at the ANZ Stadium.
