The Japanese government is trying to ensure that Fiji is represented at the non-political level in the PALM Summit involving Japan and the Pacific Forum Island countries.

There is confirmation today that all the Forum Island Leaders have been invited to the Summit in Hokkaido, Japan, except for Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

However the Japanese Ambassador to Fiji, Yutaka Yoshizawa said the Japanese government will ensure that senior officials from Fiji attend other meetings in the summit.
