Wallabies winger James O'Connor has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup match against the United States on Friday because of a hamstring strain.
The 21 year old utility is expected to be fit for Australia's final first round match against Russia on October 1st.
Australia will announce its team today.
O'Connor's place is expected to be taken by winger Drew Mitchell, who if selected will start his first test for the Wallabies since last November.
Australia will take on USA 8.30pm this Friday.
Meanwhile, Italy has kept their Rugby World Cup quarterfinal hopes alive with a 53-17 win over Russia last night.
The result means Italy can still qualify for the quarter-finals if they can beat Ireland, a feat they have achieved three times before, on the final day of pool play.
At 7.30pm today, Tonga will take on Japan in a Pool A match.
