Jacob Waqanivalu hopes to win the intermediate boy’s 100 metres at the Suva Zone One athletics meet today so that International School Suva can be recognized in the sporting arena.
The former Suva Grammar School sprinter won his 100 metres heats for International this morning in a time of 11.47 seconds and he will also take part in the 200 metres.
Waqanivalu said he wants to run below 11 seconds.
Looking at the Medal tally, Namosi Secondary School is leading the boy’s division with 2 gold, Nasinu Secondary School is second with 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while John Wesley College is third with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
In the girls division, Cathedral Secondary leads with 1 gold and 1 bronze, Wainimakutu Secondary, Latter Day Saints and Assemblies of God High have a gold each while Ballentine Memorial is third with 2 silver.
The Suva Zone I is currently underway at the ANZ Stadium.
