The largest public sector union in the country is calling on the Public Service Commission to sit down with the Unions to discuss the problems related to the Job Evaluation Report (JER) and find a solution.
The General Secretary of the Fiji Public Sector Union Rajeshwar Singh said they are not surprised with the interim government's decision to defer the implementation of the Report due to the financial constraints Fiji is facing.
He said discussions can lead to solutions and it needs to be done soon as workers are suffering.
Singh said they are awaiting the result of the trade dispute they have lodged on the JER and will decide on their next course of action after that.
The Deputy Secretary for Information Major Neumi Leweni confirmed that the JER had been approved by cabinet however it would not be implemented meaning none of the civil servants will receive a pay increase due to financial constraints.
