Scarlets coach Nigel Davies said prop Deacon Manu could still opt to play for Wales, despite being named in the Flying Fijians squad.

30 year old New Zealand-born Maori international Manu, is eligible for Wales because of the three-year residency rule, after joining the Scarlets in 2006.

The Scarlets said they would prefer him to opt for Wales over Fiji, but they will respect the decision he makes.

Davies said Fiji is chasing hard to get him for the Northern Hemisphere Tour while Wales have certainly shown an interest in him.

Manu will decide over the next couple of days the best course of action for him but according to Davies it would be best for the Scarlets if he chose not to play international rugby at all, but that they would prefer him to choose Wales and stay in the local environment if he wants to go for a Test place.

Wales will host the All Blacks on November 7th.
