Its peoples livelihood at stake-Khan
Director ECREA, Chantelle Khan said their 2 week mass signing campaign is an important one as many people are affected by the recent increase in busfares.
Khan said, they took their campaign to Vunidawa and outer areas in Nausori over the weekend and learnt that for those people staying in Vatukarasa, a village near the border of Tailevu, they have to pay $6.50 just to get to Suva, an increase of $2.25.
Meanwhile, LTA Spokesperson, Ratu Eroni Volavola said that he understands that ECREA is carrying out to get the peoples support but adds that the final say lies with Government.
Fijivillage news understands that Fiji Bus Operators President, Zain Deans is currently in Suva for a meeting regarding the bus fare revocation.
ECREA is expected to submit the over 21,000 signatures in petition to the Prime Minister’s Office by Thursday.
