The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has stressed that it is not their job to explain to motorists when the money collected for Road User Levy will be utilized.
Spokesperson Ratu Eroni Volavola made this comments after Fijivillage asked him to explain whether motorists are informed when they come to pay their levy, that this money is collected to maintain the roads in future.
Ratu Eroni said the government can explain this as they are only responsible for collecting the levy.
LTA said yesterday that the Road User Levy money is only being collected and deposited in a separate bank account from January this year to be used later.
When contacted this morning Transport Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqanibete refused to comment on this issue.
