The Vodafone Fiji 7s team can seal an Olympic berth on the opening day of the Glasgow Sevens, which kicks off tonight.
A quarter final appearance would be enough to confirm their place in Rio while they are also in contention for the World Series title.
Coach Ben Ryan said once that is secured, they can then focus on trying to catch South Africa at the top of the standings.
With two legs remaining in the World Series, Fiji are four points behind overall leaders South Africa.
A top two finish in their group this weekend, against Wales, Portugal and hosts Scotland, will guarantee a top four finish in this year's World Series, which earns automatic qualification for the Rio Olympics.
While the Vodafone Fiji 7s team will be aiming to finish in the top four spot for an automatic Olympic Games qualification next year, they will also be aiming to win their second HSBC 7s series title.
Fiji will have to win the Scotland 7s and finish ahead of South Africa in the England 7s next weekend if they are to claim the series title.
Coach Ben Ryan said they will just need to get the basics right.
Ryan also said this is a perfect situation for Fiji.
The race for the Series Title is still wide open with South Africa leading with 129 points, Fiji is in second place with 125 points, New Zealand is in third place with 120 points while England is in fourth place with 100 points.
Fiji will face Wales at 11.42 tonight in the Scotland 7's.
They take on Portugal at 2.48am tomorrow before playing Scotland at 6.21am tomorrow.
The cup quarter finals will start at 10.28pm tomorrow, the cup semifinals will be at 1.58am Monday while the cup final will be held at 5.20am Monday.
