Living at an evacuation centre is not easy.
Those were the sentiments of Dilkusha Road resident and evacuee Alipate Gutuvakaca after he and his family had to move to the Dilkusha Boy's School two and a half days ago for safety.
Gutuvakaca said they had to move quick as they did not expect the water levels to rise as quickly as it did adding life is not easy at the centre as they only received food rations when the Interim Health Minister visited yesterday and not before or since.
Gutuvakaca is also requesting authorities to postpone the start of the school year as cleaning needs to be done and there is a threat of a typhoid outbreak.
Gutuvakaca said they are sheltering with 40 other families.
