Having pride in your country is what our theme for the song 6,7,Ciwa is all about.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Mr Grin who sang the song with Sammy G and TuKaine, said the song has a Fijian flavour to it.
"Suva City wasn’t just about Suva, it was about Fiji. 6,7, Ciwa – when we heard the beat that Tulanga sang from Samoa. Tulanga used to live here and so he’s got quite a bit of passion about Fiji. He was on that song – We Are Fiji. And we wanted to do one for everybody in Fiji, something everyone could relate to . It’s just about things that Fiji people would talk about. There’s a lot of Fiji references, Sam talks about Captain Bligh, I talk about babakau, black tea, corned beef stew. These are things that I grew up with and Tulanga talks about. He uses some of the slangs he picked up in Lautoka while he was living there. And that’s what 6, 7, Ciwa is about and … it’s just us being really proud about our country." Mr Grin.
Mr Grin also added that the main idea of the song is to highlight the pride and faith many people still have in Fiji.
"And I think at this time of the year too - this is a real patriotic time of year – with all the rugby and all going on, and with everything that’s happened – whatever situation the country’s going through and all - a lot of us still stay and still call this place home." Mr Grin.
Mr Grin has also featured in the song Suva City with Sammy G.
