The Northern Division coordinator of the former SDL party and the proposed Social Democratic Liberal Party Timoci Bulitavu is now saying that he did not lend support to the draft constitution in the consultation session in Labasa earlier this week.
After raising questions on the protection of itaukei land with Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, according to the audio and video recording of the session, Bulitavu said “Thank you Mr AG. With your explanation I think we have been enlightened that itaukei land is now much more secure than before”.
Although Bulitavu made the comments after the explanation, he now says that it was not a comment but a question.
Doctor Tupeni Baba confirmed that Bulitavu is the Northern Coordinator of the proposed SODELPA.
He said he has spoken to Bulitavu and he denied that he supported the draft constitution.
Doctor Baba said Bulitavu has told him that he did not say anything along those lines.
When asked about the video recording on what Bulitavu actually said in the session, Doctor Baba said he cannot comment on that.
Meanwhile the draft constitution public consultation session will be held at the Waterfront Hotel for the people in the Western division from 9am today.
