Ireland claimed their first Grand Slam in 61 years in a dramatic climax that could have been imagined as 2008 Kings Wales finished fourth, winning the match by 17 points to 15.

It fell to Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara and rival Stephen to settle matters.

Jones put Wales into the lead in the 75th minute with a drop-goal, but in a repeat of events in 2003, O'Gara replied two minutes later to hand Ireland the victory they needed.

In other Six Nations matches played this morning, England beat Scotland 26-12 and France thrashed Italy by 50 points to 8.
