Invites to be sent for National Council members
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Pramesh Chand confirms that they are putting together the names of people who they believe will be suitable to be members of the Council from a wide cross section of society.
Chand said they expect to send out the invitations in the first week of November. He stresses that the names of the members will not be released until it is endorsed by the President.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and Head of the Catholic Church Archbishop Petero Mataca are the co Chairpersons of 40 member National Council for building a better Fiji.
The invitations will be sent to leaders, representatives from civil society organisations, NGO's, Private Sector, religious, employer and worker organisations and political parties.
Meanwhile, the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo announced during the launch of the People's Charter earlier this month that the various travel sanctions imposed against Fiji continue to act as a hurdle in getting people to become members of the National Council.
