Police and the Water Authority of Fiji are investigating the theft of eleven water metres from Muanikoso Housing yesterday.

The residents woke up yesterday morning and discovered the water metres missing.

Water Authority's Corporate Communications Officer, Michelle Singh said they believe the water metres stolen have been sold to the scrap metal buyers or have been sold to those people whose water meters would have been disconnected.

She said the residents had to pay reconnecting fees again for them to have another water meter.

The installation of a new water meter costs $85.

Assistant Police Spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed receiving the report saying that investigations are underway.
