Police have confirmed they are in their final stages of their investigation to determine who gave the directive for SDL Director Peceli Kinivuwai to be stopped from leaving the country.

Police spokesperson Ema Mua said the investigation is being jointly carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department and the Police Special Branch.

Mua confirmed their officers have interviewed Kinivuwai and some others who are related to the case and the investigation report will be ready soon.

Meanwhile, Mua has again refuted claims that Commodore Teleni had given the directive for Kinivuwai to be stopped at the Nadi Airport as his name is on the watch-list.

She stressed that Kinivuwai was allowed to travel overseas twice after the events of December 5th, 2006, when Commodore Teleni was the Deputy Commander of the Fiji Military Force.
