An investigation is underway to try and determine why there were no nurses yesterday at the Nausori Health Centre ward where patients are admitted.

This is after a Nausori resident raised concern about this issue.

It is alleged that all the nurses were having lunch at the same time in a nearby room.

The nurses also informed the relatives of a patient that there are no bed sheets at the health centre for patients.

Assistant Minister for Health Veena Bhatnagar stressed that all nurses are not to take their lunch break at the same time.

Bhatnagar said the nurses should be in the room to take care and assist the patients.

Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Nausori, Doctor Turika Tamani said bed sheets are currently available for all patients.

The Ministry of Health said disciplinary action will be taken against nurses if they are found to be wrong.
