An investigation is now underway into an alleged incident where some people tried to obtain money by deception by claiming that one of them was from LTA.

The complainant has also told Fijivillage that the person who had contacted him was a Corrections Service inmate.

When asked on the complainant’s claim, Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that a report was filed on Tuesday by a Nakasi resident in relation to the case.

This comes after Nadeem Shah claimed that he received a call from a person on Tuesday and the caller claimed that he is an officer at the Land Transport Authority and Shah’s taxi permit application which is there for a long time will be discarded.

Shah claims that the caller asked for money to give the approval for his taxi permit.

He claims that the caller asked him to give money to his daughter in Davuilevu.

Shah says that he was aware of people impersonating LTA officers and he reported the matter to Nakasi police.

However he says that he went to Davuilevu with one of the officers and a woman was brought to the station.

Police confirm that the woman was brought in for questioning and released as the investigation continues.

Shah claims that the person who called him is an inmate at Natabua Prison and he works with the woman who was taken in for questioning.

We have also sent questions to the Fiji Corrections Service.
