Lautoka police have begun an intensive investigation in relation to a daylight robbery at the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority warehouse in Lautoka city yesterday.

Divisional Crime Officer Western ASP Luke Rawalai confirmed the robbery took place between 7 and 11am yesterday when FIRCA officers were conducting a stock take of confiscated items.

Rawalai said a group of men assaulted the security officer, tied him up with a rope and locked him in a room.

According to Rawalai, police officers managed to recover 10 laptops and one bag full of assorted liquor a few metres away from the office later in the day.

He added a team of police officers are now interviewing the FIRCA officers from Lautoka in relation to the alleged robbery.
