Despite the quick action by Officers of the National Fire Authority, they could not save the Aarkay Motors Limited building in Vatuwaqa from burning down last night.
The Aarkay Motors premises, with over 50 cars and $300,000 in stock were completely destroyed in the fire which started at around 8pm last night.
Acting Chief Fire Officer Tupou Saubulinayau said it was a very dangerous situation with things exploding inside but their men managed to stop it from spreading.
He confirms a team is on standby at the scene as it is still classified as a hot spot and a joint investigation into the cause of the fire will commence once the site is safe to enter.
The Managing Director of Aarkay Motors opted not to comment when contacted this afternoon.
