The Interim Works Minister has directed the Land Transport Authority to investigate the bus fire incident in Tailevu over the weekend.
Ministry spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said this step has to be taken as further steps can be taken against the bus company concerned.
Two Secondary School students of Queen Victoria School were admitted at the Korovou hospital after the bus they were travelling in caught fire in Tailevu on Saturday afternoon.
Assistant Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed the incident, saying that the bus was transporting students from National Stadium to Tailevu when the engine caught fire.
According to Sokomuri, the students who sustained injuries had to break the window glass to jump out of the bus.
Waqainabete said there are clear requirements for buses with glass windows and those vehicles which do not have the emergency exits can be taken off the roads.
