The Interim Prime Minister said the interim government is committed to have elections in March 2009 and stresses that the People's Charter will be in place before the elections.

While responding to the US Deputy Assistant Secretary East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Glyn Davies comments that the US cannot see a concrete time-table for the next elections, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said it is insulting to hear that the US senior official did not understand what they are trying to achieve.

Bainimarama also said it would be naive to just have democratic elections before resolving the long standing problems in the country.
