An interim stay order has been imposed on the implementation of the retirement age policy at 55 years by the Chief Justice Anthony Gates this morning.

It has been confirmed that Judge Gates imposed the limited stay order until next Tuesday when the hearing on the application for a full stay on the retirement age will be heard before a Judge of the Supreme Court.

Lawyer representing the Fiji Public Service Association Viren Kapadia filed the application for stay last week as they intend to appeal the Fiji Court of Appeal's earlier ruling which stated that the Public Service Commission can reduce the retirement age in the civil service from 60 to 55 years.

The hearing on the stay will be heard next Tuesday March 31st.
